The Story of "Rose in Turquoise"

Roses are amazing flowers and offer a variety of wonderful popular features - longevity, fragrance and gorgeous color for the garden. My husband loves to grow them so I usually have a steady supply of cut roses in my home. I'm blessed! 

One of the things that fascinates me most about roses is the layers of unfolding pedals and the depth they create. "Rose in Turquoise" is a study of the rhythmic character these pedals can display.  It's also an experiment with an uncommon color of a rose and the way the light catches edges and changes tones. 

The background is a metallic copper paint just because I love copper and I'm live in Arizona.  This photo was difficult to capture the reality of how it glimmers so beautifully against the turquoise.
